Join a discussion about the rich history of the various music scenes that were unique to Los Angeles. It isn’t a history of music in LA but rather a history of music genres that have a special relationship to LA. Some of these genres were invented in whole or in part here while others were branded or repackaged in a way that could only come from Los Angeles. This journey will take us from the early days of LA before the 20s all the way up to the 90s from Jazz to Rock to Rap.

In this installment we will discuss the maturing music industry in Los Angeles exploring the vibrant club scene of the 70s as it evolves. Along the way we will talk about the California Sound, the Rock n’ Roll excesses that spawned Punk Rock and New Wave along with the glamour of Hair Metal. We will follow the scene as it also changes to include Europop in the 80s and the emergence of Rap and beyond.
